After a rebuild this extensive, the league table becomes an indictment of the transfer window. Fair enough: Fiorentina did not recruit players to collect compliments about their potential. Giving every newcomer the same verdict, though, would be convenient rather than accurate. Some already contribute. Others have received more expectations than minutes.

The cut-off is the 2–2 draw with Atalanta on 29 October, after nine Serie A rounds. This assessment covers thirteen new first-team players. Redemptions of earlier loans and academy deals are different parts of the window, not thirteen more opportunities to judge the same recruitment.

Establish the playing time before delivering the verdict

FotMob, Serie A 2026/27, through Atalanta on 29 October 2026. Fiorentina appearances only.

Seven appearances for Beto amount to 182 minutes, barely more than two full matches. Pote’s six appearances total 118. Neither should be immune from criticism. Both should be judged against what they have actually had time to demonstrate.

Jiménez is providing the clearest immediate return

Two goals, two assists and 606 minutes: Jiménez does not need a defence based on what he might become in two years. His present contribution makes the case. He scored against Napoli and Inter, then supplied an assist against Atalanta. Production from full-back matters in a side still searching for reliable goals.

There is a difference between praising that start and budgeting for it to repeat unchanged. FotMob gives him 0.38 xG for his two goals. Finishing difficult attempts that efficiently is an unsafe baseline. The lasting value will lie in reaching useful positions and serving teammates repeatedly. The goals are a bonus; the attack needs dependable work around them.

Njie and Mastantuono: a glimpse is not yet a pattern

Njie has one goal and one assist in 546 minutes. Both came against Atalanta. That earns a continuation, rather than a declaration that the wing is settled. One excellent evening establishes what is possible. The next games establish what can be relied upon.

Mastantuono has three league goals and 700 minutes, the most among the new attacking players. All three goals came against Venezia. A hat-trick has real value; the total alone says little about the other eight games. Fiorentina need threat from him without a finish too: passes into the box and movement that allows a teammate to receive facing goal.

Neither young player should have to carry the whole attack. The coach should also ensure that a successful dribble has support and an unsuccessful one does not immediately send the entire team retreating.

Pellegrino and Beto do not yet have the same problem

Pellegrino has two goals in 639 minutes, around 0.28 per ninety. With a regular starting role, expecting more is reasonable. Before deciding how much of the shortfall is finishing, look at the service: is he ending moves in the box or spending them fighting for the ball elsewhere? The goal column alone cannot separate a missed chance from a missing supply line.

Beto has no goals, one assist and 182 minutes. His immediate issue is the absence of a sustained role. Another late appearance may change a result without showing what he could contribute across several full matches. Before concluding that both centre-forwards were mistakes, Fiorentina need to establish whether they have a practical plan for both.

Atta and Oulaï: the middle remains unresolved

Atta has played 335 league minutes; his latest appearance in the retrieved record is Napoli on 20 September. Absence limits the assessment of the player. It does not remove availability from the assessment of the transfer. A midfielder intended to help rebuild the centre eventually has to be available to do it.

Oulaï has 213 minutes, fewer than two and a half full matches, and entered at half-time against Atalanta. There are useful starting points: eight tackles, five interceptions, eighteen duels won at 66.7 per cent. The sample is too small to announce a midfield leader. It is large enough to start discussing responsibilities instead of only the price.

In a side conceding twenty-one goals, who stays ahead of the centre-backs when an eight advances? If that answer changes from move to move, recruitment alone cannot stabilise the defence. Midfielders also deserve credit for the opposition attacks prevented by a closed passing lane. Pass completion cannot replace that assessment.

A new defence is not automatically a better defence

Drăgușin has played all 810 minutes. He has had enough football to be asked for an influence on the line’s stability. Twenty-one conceded means the new centre-back has not solved the collective problem. It does not mean every goal belongs to him: midfield cover and goalkeeping still matter.

Viery has 492 minutes, Valdepeñas 441. Development at their stage should be accompanied by fewer unnecessarily difficult decisions. Putting a young defender inside an unstable team does not automatically accelerate his education. Sometimes it merely exposes his inexperience more often.

João Mário has 273 minutes and a goal against Atalanta. That supports another opportunity, rather than proving the left side is secure. Separate attacking contribution from defensive reliability: a goal can arrive in one match; trust requires a run of responsible performances.

Gnonto and Pote: the bench needs a plan too

Gnonto has 229 minutes, Pote 118, both without a league goal or assist. At present those figures reveal limited involvement more clearly than a definitive recruitment verdict. If they are meant to improve rotation, their assignments should be recognisable: attack a particular space, support the ball carrier, change the tempo. “Make something happen” in the last fifteen minutes is not a tactical role.

A coach need not distribute minutes equally. He needs to know what he wants from a substitute. Recruitment should likewise distinguish between an alternative for a particular match and another player waiting for the same space.

The current balance: useful signings, too little collective improvement

Jiménez offers the strongest immediate evidence. Njie has a promising platform from Atalanta. Mastantuono has demonstrated a ceiling, without consistent production yet. Pellegrino needs more goals, Atta availability, Oulaï continuity and a clear job. Beto, Gnonto and Pote still have too little playing time for a final verdict.

Reported fees are not added into one deceptively exact total here: accounts mix base fees, bonuses, loans and redemptions from earlier deals. Whatever the accounting scope, Fiorentina can demand more from such an extensive rebuild.

The final test of a signing is whether he improves the work around him. Fiorentina can point to a successful recruit and a successful move. They still too rarely show how the two add up to a successful team.

Through 29 October 2026. Minutes, goals and assists: FotMob, Serie A 2026/27 only. Assessments are editorial, not algorithmic ratings or a complete video audit. Thirteen new first-team arrivals; earlier loan redemptions and academy moves are outside the player-performance sample.
